Cockpit Makers Take Centre Stage at Goldsmiths’ Fair

This year’s Goldsmiths’ Fair has been a triumph for Cockpit makers! In week one, Huimin Zhang received the New York City Jewelry Week (NYCJW) Award for her brooch Live Like a Summer Flower No. 03 – earning her a place to showcase at NYC Jewelry Week – and her brooch Live Like a Summer Flower No. 04 was acquired by the Goldsmiths’ Company’s permanent collection.

Meanwhile, in week two, Jo Hayes Ward was recognised with the Goldsmiths’ Fair Award for her Random Oval Ring, praised for its texture, depth, and luminosity achieved without a single gemstone. Catch Jo and five other incredible Cockpit jewellers at Goldsmiths’ Fair before it wraps up this Sunday.

Celebrate Black History Month at Kemi Ajose's New Exhibition

Art and design lovers won’t want to miss Speaking from the Margins, UAL’s Black History Month exhibition at London College of Communication. Running until 24 October, the show celebrates the creativity of Black staff, students, and alumni across the university, exploring themes of decolonisation, preservation, resistance, and joy.

Kemi Ajose‘s deeply personal knitwear features as part of the exhibition. Kemi handmakes her pieces using deadstock yarns, blending texture, colour, and pattern into zero-waste pieces that reflect her personal style and narrate the significance between material, culture, and craft.
