Receiving an Award or Bursary at Cockpit is a prestigious achievement in its own right. You’ll benefit from:

  • Free studio space in London (assigned in either Bloomsbury or Deptford subject to studio availability)
  • Access to specialised equipment (depending on the Award, see below)
  • Tailored business support from our in-house coaches
  • Membership in a thriving creative community
  • Cockpit Open Studios twice a year

The following Awards are open for applications from 19 August 2024. For more details and to apply, click here.

Deadline to apply is Thursday 26 September 2024 at 6 pm.

The Haberdashers’ Award is for makers working in knit or with knit as a main element of their practice. The Award includes a year’s studio space and business support from our expert in-house team. We are looking for two individuals who demonstrate entrepreneurial spirit as well as creative excellence and craft skills.

Past awardees include current studio holders Kemi Ajose, Nicci James and Saffy McNamara and Cockpit Alumni Alicia Robinson and Katy Watts.

Interviews will be held on Tuesday 10 December 2024.

Depending on the volume of applications, we sometimes deploy a two-stage process and you might be invited to a first round online interview with the team before you are invited to an in-person panel interview.

The Glass Sellers’ Bursary provides a one-year opportunity to a craftsperson working in warm or cold glass. The Bursary offers one year of business support and subsidised studio space at Cockpit.

Past awardees include current studio holder Helen Brough and Cockpit alumnus Lulu Harrison.

Interviews will be held on Wednesday 4 December 2024.
