Saffy McNamara is a textile artist and knitwear designer with a particular interest in folklore and traditional craft, exploring the whimsical, eccentric and humorous aspects of storytelling.
She delves into narrative textiles and storytelling in its visual and oral form, inspired by traditional Irish and English folk tales. Though her work she invents and translates stories through tactile objects and the process of knitting, crocheting and felting.
Saffy creates contemporary and playful clothing, accessories and wall art from natural materials, predominantly wool from British mills.
Saffy is a recipient of the 2024 Haberdashers' Award.
