““I use glass as a canvas to embrace reversal, fragility, and light, allowing the process of reverse painting to shape the image as much as my intention.””

Process

Their practice centres on reverse glass painting, using glass as both surface and conceptual framework. Working on the reverse side requires the image to be constructed in layers and in reverse order, demanding careful planning while allowing for intuitive decision-making. Marks are applied knowing they cannot be easily altered, making the process deliberate and attentive. The transparency, reflectivity, and fragility of glass actively shape the work, influencing colour, line, and composition. Light and surface play a crucial role, with the finished image existing in dialogue with its environment. Through this method, the act of painting becomes a negotiation between control and uncertainty, where the material’s properties guide the outcome as much as the artist’s intention.
