Grant is a ceramic artist with a background in fashion who works with porcelain caught in a state of tension and transformation. Working at the intersection of control and surrender, Grant treats the porcelain as cloth, by pressing it, slicing it into strips and draping it into layered structures that are both botanical and bodily. Each piece begins as a flat sheet of clay, shaped by hand into sculptural objects that swell, twist, unfurl, and decay.
Inspired by architectural transformation, the human body, and natural processes of growth, Grant creates forms that resist containment and suggest continuous change. He holds a Master of Arts in Ceramics and Glass from the Royal College of Art.
