As part of our commitment to inclusion, we strive to open up access to craft to everyone with talent and passion, working with national programmes, community groups, and partner organisations to widen access to craft within our communities.
From careers visits to craft workshops, our programmes have reached over 2,500 children, young people, and community members since 2023.

Since 2019, Cockpit has been the lead for craft in the national Discover! Creative Careers Programme. Through careers visits for local secondary schools, young people can learn about opportunities in the creative sector and get a glimpse into the lives of artists and craftspeople.
As part of the National Saturday Club Network, Cockpit provides the opportunity for young people to explore their creativity and hone their practice as young makers. Ours is the only club hosted in a working maker studio, where participants can learn about entrepreneurship as well as making.
Launching in 2025, families will have the chance to join makers from Cockpit for a series of family friendly craft workshops during the school holidays. Get hands-on with making, discover new techniques, and create something completely unique to take home with you.
Cockpit has strong links with the local community and other cultural organisations who share our mission. We work in partnership with a wide range of organisations to provide opportunities to discover and enjoy craft.
