Join Cockpit weaver Deb King for a one-day weaving workshop for adults at Cockpit Deptford.
You’ll be weaving on table looms which are set up in advance with a variety of different warps. You may have done some weaving previously but the day is also suitable for beginners who are interested in learning the basics, have an existing interest in textiles, and want to explore natural materials.
Deb has gathered a big selection of yarns including different types of wool, linen, cotton, silk, hemp, alpaca, mohair, paper, and more, which means there will be lots of scope to experiment with different textures and patterns.
You’ll focus on the yarns themselves, exploring their different characteristics, how they’re processed, how to identify them, and how they affect the cloth we weave.
You’ll go home with new ideas, information sheets and a pile of samples you’ve woven with sustainable fibres.
