Deb King

homeware and textiles

About

Deb is a handweaver, fascinated by the transformation of thread into cloth and the role materials play in the making process.

Tactility is important to her and she pays particular attention to the surface and the structure of the cloth she makes, its drape and weight, how it feels as well as how it looks.

She works with carefully selected natural materials, most often wool or silk, preferring yarns that are grown or processed and spun in the UK, or deadstock yarns which would otherwise be wasted.

Her homewares, clothing and accessories are simple and timeless, designed to be treasured, passed on and ultimately returned to the earth. Her art works reflect her pre-occupation with showcasing the materials and their individual characteristics combined with techniques which reveal the intricate pathway of each thread.
