Annie joined Cockpit as Chief Executive in 2018. Previously Creative Director at the Crafts Council, she has 20 years’ experience as a cultural leader and social entrepreneur.
Maxine coordinates Cockpit’s awards, careers and young people’s programmes. She holds an MA in contemporary craft and is a Weston Jerwood Creative Fellow.
Head of Business Incubation
David leads our team of business coaches and trainers. He designs our in-house programme of business support and one-to-one coaching and leads Cockpit’s international consultancy service.
Business Incubation Programme Manager
A trained coach, Madeleine plans and delivers our business development programmes and provides one-to-one coaching for studio holders. She returns from maternity leave in April 2022.
Financial Controller at Cockpit since 2004, Hugo is a qualified accountant and is responsible for all areas of the organisation’s financial management.
Head of Communications
Janice leads our commmunications and manages open studios events. She has over 25 years’ experience representing craftspeople and curating exhibitions.
A communications professional specialising in contemporary craft sector, Alice is responsible for communications at Cockpit working alongside Janice.
Studio Manager Deptford
Beckie is the friendly face of Cockpit Studios Deptford – managing the studios and office facilities and handling the application process.
Studio Manager Bloomsbury
A practicing artist and co-founder of contemporary art website Artvehicle, Adrian is the friendly face of Cockpit Studios Bloomsbury.
Head of Development
Sandie leads our fundraising, including managing our Supporters’ scheme, stewarding trusts and foundations, and running events, venue hire and private tours.
Head of Operations
Fabienne leads on all aspects of business operations, including both operational and HR functions, in addition to property management, commercial development, future development and strategy.
Emma coordinates Cockpit’s business development programmes, supporting makers to establish and grow their practices. Drawing on her background in energy, Emma is also Cockpit’s Green Champion.

Long-standing supporter of craft and makers, Davina is a senior brand strategist, collaborating with many of the most successful international design companies, designers and architects.
One of the most respected names in contemporary British leathercraft, Bill’s work in architecture and interiors over the last 30 years has grown in parallel with his iconic bag designs.
Director of CollaboratEQ, Nishita transforms organisations into collaborative trusted networks, supporting clients to design future-ready organisations.
Sam is an Emerging Technology Product Owner at frog where he helps to create digital experiences, and has a history of working with creative, innovative and entrepreneurial companies.
Lee Gage is solicitor with broad commercial, data protection and intellectual property law experience, having worked with creative businesses in many sectors, most notably in the retail fashion.
An aspiring jeweller, Patricia retired from a 25-year career as a partner in international law to focus on extending her portfolio of non-executive and advisory roles.
Cockpit Alumna, Clarissa has built her textile brand into one the most respected in the UK. She has also worked as a visiting lecturer at Brighton University and consults on design licensing.
Pablo Lloyd OBE
Pablo is a serial entrepreneur who has built ground-breaking organisations in the education sector and now focuses on support for business start-ups.
Prominent figure and creative force in the hospitality industry, David founded Michelin starred restaurant Pied à Terre in 1991. He is now a passionate consultant, regular fixture on TV and radio, and mentor for young chefs.
Mehul is a business change and management consulting leader, helping shape organisations’ investment agendas and delivering innovative solutions from first ideas to final delivery.
Chartered Surveyor and Commercial Director, Ben has advised on a number of arts and cultural projects including the Ashmolean Museum, Royal Opera House, Geffrye Museum, Royal Academy and ICA.
Specialist in sustainable development and public policy, Sarah leads the delivery of complex multi-million-pound projects to help organisations deliver transformative change.
With extensive marketing and communications experience with the likes of Harvey Nichols, Harrods and Selfridges, Alistair has also held senior agency roles, working strategically with clients including Egg and Net-a-Porter.com.
