Are you a young person looking for a creative way to spend your weekends?
National Saturday Club
for Craft & Making

The Craft&Making Saturday Club at Cockpit gives 13-16-year-olds the chance to learn craft skills directly from the makers working in our studios. As part of the National Saturday Club network, we offer young people the opportunity to explore their creativity across different craft disciplines, meet new people, and discover creative career opportunities, all for free.
“Today was inspiring, it made me open my ideas more about crafts and push myself out of my comfort zone.”

Get Creative at Cockpit
Saturday Club members explore their creativity and hone their practice as young makers by developing new skills, working with a range of materials, and learning directly from studio makers. The club runs from October to June, with 6–8 sessions per term.
Members build their craft skills while working towards a collaborative project that develops across spring and summer. Alongside making, they also develop the four Cs: confidence, creativity, collaboration, and communication through craft.
“My highlights were meeting the different makers and exploring different aspects of art. It helped me understand what types of art I enjoy and want to continue and strengthen.”
