Wonder is the summer exhibition by the membership of the Society of Designer Craftsmen. As a Fellow of the Society Charlotte Grierson is exhibiting ‘Escarpment’; a woven wall hanging inspired by the rock formations and coastal dynamics of the South Coast of England. This is the first piece in the beginning of project begun with funding for Mentoring from the Cockpit Textile Prize 2022. Since January 2023 Charlotte has been working with Caroline Bartlett; her mentor, to develop the basis for a body of woven work starting with sketching and a walk from Seaford over the cliffs to Cuckmere Haven.
The exhibition titled ‘Wonder’ embodies the imaginative thinking and highly skilled approaches of our members to new materials and contemporary technologies, across interdisciplinary craft and design specialisms, and will offer a rare opportunity to view and purchase a wide range of unique craft pieces exhibited directly by their makers.

Charlotte will be demonstrating weaving on Wednesday 6th September.
