This exhibition is a collaboration between the Wensleydale Longwool Sheep Breeders Association, a group of Handweavers Diploma alumna and a selection of craft makers from around the UK.
Despite their long and lustrous locks Wensleydale are a rare breed. The makers involved in this exhibition aim to showcase the beauty and versatility of the fleece.
Cockpit maker Deb King will be showing three handwoven hangings, made from lock-spun yarn and from washed but unprocessed fleece. The Spanish lace structure shows off the natural characteristics of the fibre. She has also made a blanket using yarn spun at a micro mill in East Sussex and which has inspired further investigation into the properties and peculiarities of the fibre.
