Introducing two brilliant and very different artists to the Woolff Gallery, this exhibition marries together a celebration of texture and warmth.
Both artists work in vastly different but natural materials, and bring a tactile and organic vibrancy to the gallery. Using textiles and wood respectively, Alicia and Christopher compliment one another’s practice.
About the Artists
Alicia Rowbotham is multidisciplinary textile designer, researcher and artist based in London with a focus on artisanal luxury textiles and objects for contemporary interiors. Her studio collections combine the techniques of established traditional textile methods such as hand weaving, passementerie and embroidery as well as leather and metal work in contemporary design for bespoke works as seen in Elle Decoration, Collect International Art Fair, Crafts magazine, and Forbes. Alicia has been commended for her material innovation within her practice, utilising waste materials from the textile industry in all of her studio collections and private client works.
Christopher Pike makes magnificent outdoor garden sculptures out of charred wood. Having worked as a carpenter for many years after studying Fine Art at UCA Farnham, Christopher became more and more involved in the use of timber, collecting and working with wood over and becoming fascinated by their organic, textured qualities.
