Francisca Prieto will take part in a panel discussion at Tate Britain exploring the artist’s book as an experimental medium for ideas, where material and conceptual approaches form part of wider narratives around history, cultural heritage, gender and language.
“Books have been fundamental to my practice for more than two decades, becoming both content and structure, material and record, so I am particularly looking forward to this conversation.”
Led by curator Welmoet Wartena, the panel brings together Tamsin Green, Larissa Nowicki, Francisca Prieto, Batool Showghi and Rachel Smith.
The event also includes a show and share display of artists’ books, zines and photobooks from Tate Library’s collection.
The five artists were selected by curator Welmoet Wartena for the UK Friends of NMWA shortlist of Women to Watch 2027: A Book Arts Revolution, the international programme of the National Museum of Women in the Arts (NMWA), Washington, DC.
