MW Makes is a leather goods brand by architect-maker Michelle Wong, offering personalised, handcrafted leather goods for the everyday.
Influenced by her background in architecture, Michelle designs each item with a focus on simple geometries, clean lines and functionality.
Working exclusively with oak and vegetable tanned leathers from a selection of British and Italian tanneries, Michelle crafts all products using traditional saddlery techniques, such as saddle stitching and hand burnishing.
These leathers respond to the conditions of its use, forming a rich patina and character over time which makes it unique to its owner. The result is a collection of simple, yet functional items that are made to last.
Michelle was awarded The Leathersellers Award in 2022, offering her a subsidised studio space at Cockpit. In 2025, she was granted a training bursary with Heritage Crafts, to train with Nigel Armitage in bag construction, wet moulding and box stitching.
