About

Megan Leech Textile Design is a London based woven design studio providing fabric prototyping, R&D services and bespoke commission weaving. Combining traditional woven craft with modern design, the studio produces a wide range of unique textiles.

Whilst studying at Falmouth, Megan developed a keen interest into woven theory and the process of fabric development from concept to catwalk. Megan went on to receive an MA from the Royal College of Art in 2021 - her final collection explored the the capture of movement through the application and interaction colour. After her MA, Megan began working within technical research and woven development at one of the UK’s largest mills. From handcraft to industrial, fashion to technical, Megan’s experience provides a unique understanding of materials and manufacturing, enhancing her ability to work on projects for multiple different industries.

Process

Megan Leech creates and narrates dialogues between the body and space.

As a textile designer and weaver, Megan explores the process of weaving throughout her work, challenging her own methodological approach and integrating a philosophy of intuition led design into her practice. Megan’s approach is directed by a dialogue between drawing and weaving, both informing and being formed by each other. Through her work, she asks questions about the importance of interactions within the mundane, providing alternative perspectives on the everyday.
