Today we’re taking you behind-the-scenes with not one but two (!!) of our talented makers — Jihyun Kim and Woo Jin Joo.
Jihyun is a ceramic designer from South Korea who melds tradition with enchantment in her craft. Her joyful creations blend sculptural and functional elements, drawing inspiration from her cultural heritage and nature’s mystical aspects and inviting viewers to discover magic in the mundane.
Woo Jin is a textile artist working predominantly with embroidery whose practice explores her East Asian heritage through mythology, folklore, and shamanism. She is known for her imaginative textile works that are populated with mythical figures and motifs.
Earlier this year, Jihyun and Woo Jin partnered up to create a stunning new piece of work titled Blue Snake. In this video, we take you behind the scenes to learn about this creative collaboration.
