The Venice Design Biennial is a permanent forum on design culture, connecting Venice to an international network of design leaders. The theme of this year’s edition is Extinction / Salvation, inviting artists and viewers alike to use extinction and salvation as polarised lenses through which to alternately observe contemporary design.
The Main Group Exhibition Extinction / Salvation is divided into two sections: Glass and Collectible.
The Collectible selection features sculptural work by Cockpit’s award-winning maker Candice Lau whose practice explores themes of identity, displacement, and belonging through a deeply personal and material-led approach. In doing so, her work resonates with the Biennial’s theme by reflecting on what becomes lost through physical, emotional, and cultural dislocation.
