Thinking about joining our Craft&Making Saturday Club? Why not come along for a free taster session to learn a new skill in a fun and friendly atmosphere?!
On Saturday 20 April, we’ll be exploring work with textiles through a range of mediums.
Cockpit is throwing open its doors and inviting young people to join our new Craft&Making Saturday Club – part of the National Saturday network, which offers opportunities for 13-16 year olds to study the things they love, for free, on a Saturday. Draw on the incredible talent of over 160 world-class makers to get hands-on with a wide range of craft skills.
Cockpit’s Saturday Club opened in October 2023, and we are recruiting new members to join us on Saturdays during term time. Saturday Club members explore their creativity and hone their practice as young makers by developing new skills, working with a range of materials, and learning directly from studio makers.
The Club will explore themes of identity, sustainability and equity through making, looking first hand at the role that traditional approaches to making can play in our modern world. Club members will learn new making skills while also developing the ‘4 Cs’: confidence, creativity, collaboration, and communication through craft skills.
You can apply to be a regular member via the National Saturday Club’s website, or sign up for a taster session to join us for a one-off activity.
