This Masterclass on Theo Moorman technique is a chance for you to explore the possibilities of this inlay technique. You will weave on a pre-warped loom and take home your piece at the end of the day. You can bring with you some inspiration in the form of an image you would like to interpret.
What you Will Learn:
Join this intimate masterclass at Charlotte Grierson’s studio at Cockpit in Deptford to explore the art-based Theo Moorman technique. This inlay weaving technique allows you to build free-flowing images and shapes using a wide variety of yarns, from thin and plain to thick and textured. With a maximum of 3 participants, you’ll receive personalised guidance and the opportunity to create a unique sampler.
In this masterclass, you will:

Learn the principles of the Theo Moorman technique through demonstrations.

Work on pre-set looms to try the inlay technique and create your own sampler.

Explore how to interpret an image using this technique, with inspiration provided or your own image.

Use a wide range of yarns to experiment with blocks and shapes of colour and texture.
All materials are included, and you’ll enjoy tea, coffee, and scones during the session. This masterclass is perfect for those looking to combine art and weaving in a hands-on, personalised experience.
Tea and coffee will be provided. There are places locally for lunch or you may bring your own.
About the Maker
Charlotte Grierson has an MA in Textiles and is a handweaver with 30 years of experience. She designs and makes her own functional and art-led work from her studio at Cockpit in Deptford. She also has over 20 years of experience of teaching practical weaving classes.
