Joe Garcia

Joe Garcia (b. 1996) is a ceramicist based in Deptford. He works as a production potter while maintaining an independent practice specialising in print on ceramics. Joe has developed techniques to make ceramic materials as paper like as possible, allowing them to be worked like collage and print processes. He moves fluidly between pots, wall pieces, and paper collage.
He approaches materials as central to the work, not passive or replaceable, but integral to its emotional impact. For him, form and feeling are inseparable, as are thought and emotion. He does not see the work as symbolising ideas, but as the idea itself, something arrived at through
