London Craft Week returns to the city 4 – 10 October and brings together over 250 established and emerging makers, designers, brands and galleries from around the world.

Cockpit is delighted to be partnering with London Craft Week and to share new opportunities to meet many talented makers with our bespoke tours.

Storytelling Through Jewellery

Join Cockpit for a curated tour to meet some of the talented jewellers in their studios. K2 Academy’s Katrin Spranger and Kelvin Birk, Ute Decker, Ellen Monaghan and Meron Wolde share their unique stories and how they communicate them through wearable art. Textile Talent

Discover the Homo Faber Guide artisans at Cockpit Holborn with an immersive visit. Go behind the scenes into the workshops of QEST Scholars Natasha Mann (Moroccan decorative painting) and Jennie Adamson (tailor) as well as Tessa Eastman (ceramics), Katharine Coleman (glass engraving). See first-hand a diversity of skills and creativity.

Darren Appiagyei at The Garden Museum
Set against the backdrop of Dan Pearson’s courtyard garden at the Garden Museum, Darren Appiagyei demonstrates a variety of hand-woodworking techniques used in his practice.

Hollie Ward for Kiosk N1C: Hand Weaving and Hand Spinning
Award-winning hand weaver and spinner Hollie Ward shows one-off pieces created from surplus yarn exclusively for Kiosk N1C. With live weaving and spinning throughout the week, learn about different fibres and try your hand at spinning.

In Good Company: Lucille Lewin and Nicole Farhi
In Good Company is a celebration of the creativity and friendship of Lucille Lewin and Nicole Farhi, who both independently and unbeknown to each other left their long careers in fashion to have new equally successful careers as full-time sculptors. The exhibition showcases exciting new works in bronze, jesmonite, porcelain and glass.

Sarah Myerscough Gallery – Outside In: Natural Materials in Contemporary Design and Art
‘Outside In’ presents exceptional works of crafted art and design by international artist-makers who define their practice through their ethical and emotional decisions to use organic, sustainable materials. Including artist talk with Eleanor Lakelin on Tuesday 5 October.

Crafting a Difference
This exhibition, presented by Crafting a Difference, will celebrate outstanding international contemporary craft set within the magnificent architecture, décor and fabric of the Argentine Ambassador’s Official Residence, in the frame of London Craft Week 2021, with support from the Crafts Council and QEST.
Participating galleries: Jagged Art, Cavaliero Finn, Made in Britaly, Ting & Ying, Vessel. Exhibition features work by Tessa Eastman.

The Mountain
Newman Zieglmeier presents an exhibiton with Ana Bridgewater, Takanori Fujino and Cockpit woodturner Arturo Soto. Elegant shapes and reclaimed materials to interact and entwine to create a new meaning of luxury and environmental awareness.

Making Leather Jewellery Workshop with Tania Clarke Hall
Tania is currently developing a project to teach women from an underprivileged historic neighbourhood of Cairo, Egypt, about how to make leather jewellery pieces from scraps featuring designs inspired by the historic buildings around them. As part of this workshop on 10 October, she will share fascinating patterns from the architecture of medieval Cairo to inspire participants. She will also give participants a short introduction to her community development project and the ways in which craft is being used to improve people’s livelihoods through the work of organisations like Mishka and The Barakat Trust.
