ABOUT OPEN STUDIOS

What is Open Studios?

Open Studios is a 2-3 day event, which takes place twice a year in Summer and Winter at our two London sites in Bloomsbury and Deptford. Cockpit Studios is made up of many studio spaces occupied by world-class craftspeople. Open Studios is when we open our doors for visitors, a chance to wander freely around the building and visit our makers in their studios. Each studio has a different feel to it and a very wide variety of processes and products to see.

Will I be able to buy things?

Yes, Open Studios is an opportunity to buy directly from makers, which means you get to take home a piece of world-class craftsmanship. In doing so, you’re also supporting small independent businesses and a sustainable way to shop.

What is the price range of the items for sale?

Cockpit is home to a very broad range of makers working in variety of disciplines, materials and styles. What unites them is the quality and originality of their work. Some items are priced under £50, right upto collectible artworks worth several thousand pounds.

Is it ok just to come and look?

Absolutely. Our makers love meeting people who are interested in their work, and encourage you to ask lots of questions. There is no pressure to buy, though many items are for sale.
