This workshop with Ian Scott Kettle will explore the concept of ‘CRAFT’, examining traditional craft through multidisciplinary practices, from the past and their potential mergence with newer, technology-based approaches, shaping the future…
Many years of teaching design has taught Ian to categorise the work as either: “Information On the Body” or “Information Off the Body.”
In other words: Whether you create for the body, or design objects and spaces for the body to interact with, we are the constant in all things: Function, Comfort, Performance, Protection, Interaction and Engagement.
During this seminar, you will also discuss the latest challenges facing British makers today and ways to potentially overcome them:
- The startling rise in the costs of living
- The ongoing effects of Brexit
- The legacy of the pandemic
All contributing to the current decline in customer engagement, ever changing individual social habits and ultimately, sales.
Join Ian in his studio for a glass of wine and an enriching evening of craft, reflection, and renewal as we welcome the start of the autumn season together.
Tickets: £35
Seating is limited to 25 guests.
