Invest in the Future of Cockpit

Help Cockpit foster community and skills development by supporting the costs of maintaining our Craft Hubs.

Cockpit’s is home to three purpose-built hubs — the Weave Studio on the Second Floor, the Wood Hub at the back of the building and the Leather Hub on the Ground Floor. These are shared spaces for makers to access specialist equipment, work at scale and expand their practise through new ways of making. As part of the recent redevelopment of our Deptford site, the Wood Hub was created and the Leather Hub was refurbished

Each Hub acts as a focal point for creative and business opportunities, for makers who are both Awardees and on standard studio placements. We’re seeing an ever-increasing number of collaborations, both formal and informal, centred around the provision of essential equipment, and our Hubs are quickly being recognised as ‘best in class’ by makers and funders.

Essential funding for the creation of our Craft Hubs was generously provided by the Leathersellers’ Foundation, the Clothworkers’ Company and the Worshipful Company of Turners. As we look ahead to the future, we are asking for support towards the maintenance and development of our Hubs, including equipment, training and masterclasses to support creative development.

Please make a donation now to invest in the future of our Hubs and help Cockpit support its vibrant maker community.

“Having the Leather Hub and the leather community the Hub has created is really one of the best things for leatherworkers in the UK in my view. The new Leather Hub is fantastic. It is set up for exactly how we work and the space is really great! I think lots of the leather Awardees stay on after their Award is finished. This is a great testament to the Award and the community it’s created.”
